Actor Richard Crenna, who played TV detective Frank Janek and whose credits include the TV series "The Real McCoys" and the "Rambo" film trilogy, has died at 76, his daughter confirmed Saturday.
In addition to Seana Crenna, the actor is survived by his wife, Penni; a son, Richard; and another daughter, Maria.
Most recently, Crenna played the recurring role of Jared Duff on the television series "Judging Amy." He played President Reagan in the 2001 television movie "The Day Reagan Was Shot," in which Richard Dreyfuss played Alexander Haig.

Born in Los Angeles, Crenna's career began in radio at the age of 10, first on "Burns and Allen" and then as squeaky-voiced Walter Denton on "Our Miss Brooks." He moved with the show when it migrated to television.
Crenna continued with film work, too, most notably for his roles with Steve McQueen in 1966's "The Sand Pebbles" and in the 1967 thriller "Wait Until Dark." He gained some critical success in 1981's "Body Heat" and won a Golden Globe for his role in 1984's "The Flamingo Kid."
Crenna is survived by his wife and three adult children.

Richard Crenna, an Emmy award-winning character actor who starred as a lovesick teenager on the 1950s sitcom "Our Miss Brooks" and as Sylvester Stallone's Green Beret mentor in three "Rambo" films, died Friday in Los Angeles of pancreatic cancer.
Crenna tried to balance work and family, bringing his wife and children with him on film shoots, including a yearlong adventure in Hong Kong and Taiwan to film "The San Pebbles," in which he played a courageous gunboat captain opposite Steve McQueen in the 1966 naval epic.
Crenna was elected last fall to a three-year term on SAG's national board of directors as rep of the Hollywood division.
