He became internationally known for his performance as King Arthur in the musical "Camelot," which won him a Golden Globe Award. |
 | | Harris also wrote two books, a novel, "Honor Bound," and a poetry compilation, "I in the Membership of My Days." Among his honorary awards, Harris was knighted in 1985 in Denmark and in 1987 received an honorary doctorate from the University of Scranton, where he was a guest professor of theater during the 1980s. |
