Richard Jewell (born November 17, 1962) was a central figure in the Centennial Olympic Park bombing at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia.
Jewell, in his capacity as a security guard, discovered the bag and alerted Georgia Bureau of Investigation officers; this discovery was 9 minutes before Rudolph called 911 to deliver a warning.
Richard Jewell is not considered a target of the federal criminal investigation into the bombing on July 27, 1996, at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta".

According to information taken from the International Genealogy Index (I.G.I.), Richard Jewell was baptised on the 13th July 1808 in the Parish of St Ithians, Cornwall.
Richard was the first child of Richard Jewell and Elizabeth Phillips.
At the time of writing this I have not been able to determine what became of Richard, however I am fairly certain that he tragically died prior to 1814, as his parents Richard and Elizabeth had another son around 1814, which they also named Richard.
