Glide Magazine News - Bob Mould Announces Duo Project With Richard Morel
Two decades after helping define the sound of alternative-rock with Husker Du, Bob Mould could help redefine the sound of pop itself as part of an unusual partnership with progressive house wizard and Deep Dish-collaborator Richard Morel.
When Mould’s angry, angular power-pop tendencies meet Morel’s hazy house-fueled electronica, the result is a club-ready but surprisingly sunny, straightforward pop sound that has no like or parallel today.
The partnership between Mould and Morel is an uncommon one in today’s pop scene; not simply because it’s a Scissor Sisters-style union between a rocker and a house-head, with universal musical appeal.

Splendid Magazine reviews Morel: Lucky Strike
Lucky Strike is Richard Morel's second full-length effort, an eclectic melange of progressive house and melancholy electro-pop a la New Order, enhanced by a guitar-based songwriting sensibility that allows him to construct fluid melodies and -- unusually, within an electronica context -- workable lyrics.
The electric instrumentation (Morel is actually a guitar/bass/drums/keys four-piece) occasionally gets confusing, though, as it triggers simultaneous connections on the conflicting pop/rock/dance regions of your musical brain: you're compelled to listen attentively and dance your ass off at the same time.
Deep Dish's 16B lends a hand on the velvety, stylish dance-floor hit "Driving To Heaven"; his studio experience and remixing work for Depeche Mode, New Order and The Pretenders certainly shows.
