She is the daughter of Richard and Oracene Williams and the older sister of another tennis champion, Serena Williams.
In 2003, Williams faced her sister Serena Williams at the 2003 Wimbledon finals despite suffering a severe abdominal injury which required medical attention during the match.
In addition, Williams, as the 14th seed in the draw, was the lowest seed to win the title in Wimbledon history.

Richard Williams has said that years ago he realized that a player ranked barely in the top 50 earned more money for an early round loss at a slam than he made in a year and that it was then that he decided to make tennis players out of his two daughters.
Tennis has always been a means to an end for these women.
I am personally not a KAD of the Williams sisters, although I have seen Venus play live and thought she was awesome.
