The age distribution, influenced strongly by the presence of Eastern Kentucky University, is: 17.5% under the age of 18, 31.7% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 13.8% from 45 to 64, and 9.5% who were 65 years of age or older.
Richmond has, in the past, been denoted as one of the top ten party towns in the nation.

The Battle of Richmond Association (BORA) was organized in 2001 to act as the lead organization in an effort to preserve the Battle of Richmond (Ky.) Battlefield.
The organization was formed in partnership with the Madison County Historical Society, the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and the Madison County Civil War Roundtable.
The Richmond battlefield was for several years designated by the Civil War Preservation Trust as one of the 10 most endangered battlefields in the United States.

Bowen, of Stanton, passed through Richmond on the last leg of his journey, which started in Lompoc, Calif., in April of last year and took him through Canada and 46 U.S. states as he returns to his hometown in Eastern Kentucky.
Bowen, who studied regional city planning at Eastern Kentucky University for three years in the early 1970s, first decided to tour the country on a bike when he was 24, stationed at an Air Force base in Lompoc in 1967.

The land designated for the reenactment of the Battle of Richmond 2006 is unique in that the Battle ot Richmond Association (BORA) enables you to experience a reenactment on a portion of the original battlefield that is relatively unchanged since the dates of the conflict, Aug. 29-30, 1862.
The primary purpose of the Richmond reenactment is to recreate, on a small scale, the events of the Battle of Richmond for the education and entertainment of the participants and spectators.
