Richmond Hill, situated on the Ogeechee River fifteen miles south of Savannah, is the largest municipality in Bryan County (although Pembroke is the county seat).
Richmond Hill was incorporated in 1962, and it remained a quiet rural community until about 1980, when the building of interstate highways in the area and the influx of Chatham County residents into lower Bryan spurred rapid growth.
By 2000 Richmond Hill was one of the fastest-growing towns in Georgia.

 ROUND HILL TOWN COUNCIL
Lisa Zimmer-Chu addressed the Council with respect to the Richmond American proposal to rezone the area between  the Villages at Round Hill and the Town proper from its by-right development density of one house per acre (yielding approximately 40 homes) to a higher density yielding approximately 118 homes.
Town Council had previously asked that the policy on charging developers for Plan Reviews and for Construction Inspections be examined.
Council members stated that this issue is being discussed in Executive Session (as it is a legal matter) and that, upon resolution in that meeting, a response to the residents would be forthcoming.

Richmond Hill was incorporated as a village in 1873, and as a town in 1957.
The town's motto is En la rose, je fleuris (French for "Like the rose, I flourish"), reflecting either the motto of the Duke of Richmond, or the fact that the town was a center of rose-growing in the early 20th century.
The kettle lakes are predominantly confined to the northern fringes of the town.

The Town was officially incorporated on June 18, 1872 as a village and the first council meeting was held on January 1, 1873 under the leadership of Abraham Law as Reeve.
Richmond Hill developed because of its proximity to Toronto, as farmers came into town on their way to Toronto markets and people traveled up and down Yonge Street to and from communities further north.
It was 1961 when the Council of the Town of Richmond Hill contacted the House of Richmond and received permission to formally adopt the slightly altered version of its coat-of-arms.

Town Solicitor Karen R. Ellsworth said she would not take further legal action until the attorney general makes a decision.
