Father Schneider was the pastor of the parish at Goshenhoppen for twenty-three years, ministering to the Catholics there and in the region for fifty miles around.
The first German parish of Los Angeles, St. Joseph's, was organized in 1888; the first German church in Sacramento in 1894.
Wherever they settled in sufficient numbers the schoolhouse soon rose by the side of the parish church, and until the present day they have never ceased to be staunch and unflinching and advocates of the parochial school system.

Pilot in the Church of England chapter in the same tome had Stourton come to the island as first clergyman in 1611, when he was alleged to have accompanied John Guy on his second visit to Newfoundland and remained there until 1628, when he became chaplain to the Earl of Albemarle [sic].
It is clear from Bradford's context that he refers to the intended exile of the London Congregationalist leadership to the Magdalen Islands, an undertaking which ended in abject failure and which eventually reconciled the Separatist congregation with their leadership, not in Newfoundland or the Magdalen Islands but in Holland.
The ministers preached to the seamen, etc., at the island, who were much affected with the word taught, and entertained them with all courtesy, as we understood by letters from them which came by a fishing ship to the Isles of Shales about the beginning of October.
