Richmond Football Club - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Richmond Football Club was officially formed at the Royal Hotel Richmond, on the 20th of February 1885.

 Richmond
Richmond, however, has always been known for its fighting qualities, and these were admirably displayed during "a tumultuous last quarter burst.....which won the game" (see footnote 4).
Richmond at this time was the greatest crowd puller in Australian football, but for the remainder of the 1930s, still under Perc Bentley as captain-coach, the side only occasionally threatened a return to greatness.
Richmond was also in trouble in the preliminary final against Fitzroy, which led 5.1 to 2.3 at quarter time, and 6.5 to 3.8 at half time, before a steam-rolling second half display from the Tigers saw them add 9 goals to 2 to win with deceptive ease.

ABC Sport - AFL - Tigers blow Magpies apart
The Tigers booted eight goals to one in the fourth quarter as Collingwood, who had led the game at every change, simply fell apart to lose by 13.15 (93) to 8.10 (58) and slump to their seventh defeat of the season.
But the 2002 and 2003 grand finalists were out-muscled at the bounce, where the Tigers claimed 36 hit outs to their opponents' 14 on the back of superb performances from ruckmen Knobel (21 hit outs) and Simmonds (12).
The result saw Richmond claim its sixth win of the season, while the Magpies remain anchored to the foot of the table.

The bulk of the material is from the mid-1960s to the mid-1980s, and tells of the recovery of the Tigers from the doldrums to their first premiership for 24 years in 1967, through 5 flags to 1980.
His media conference, where he promises $100,000 to the players if they made the finals (they didn't) and $500,000 to the club if they won the flag (they didn't) is ironic in light of later events.
However, the material on this disc is presented in such a way that, whilst it concentrates on Richmond and its successes, it does so matter-of-factly, dwelling on the club's strengths rather than on rivalries with opponents.
