On February 6, 2004, Levin was appointed to the Iraq Intelligence Commission, an independent panel convened to investigate U.S. intelligence surrounding the United States' 2003 invasion of Iraq and Iraq's weapons of mass destruction.
Since Levin's appointment, three of his provosts have gone on to head other universities: Judith Rodin as president of the University of Pennsylvania, Alison Richard as vice-chancellor of the University of Cambridge, and Susan Hockfield as president of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Levin and his wife, Jane, a professor at Yale, reside in New Haven, Connecticut.

Thanks to this post, when Rush Limbaugh was speculating as to who the unknown GOP Senatatorial candidate was who made all those dreadful statements to the nine reporters about President Bush etc.- it turned out to be Michael Steele- I had faith that it was not Rick Santorum.
Santorum’s name was mentioned as a strong possibility- but thanks to you I was unwavering in my faith that it was not he who said those awful things.
