 Cars! Cars! Cars!: Rick Wagoner
He drew applause when he said GM is pursuing technology-backed ways -- and not "pie-in-the-sky theories, or unfunded mandates, or ill-conceived exercises in regulation" -- to make its cars and trucks more fuel efficient and reduce emissions, which have been linked to global warming.
Unfunded mandates (aka pay us to make a product which we will then sell), pie-in-the-sky theories (aka the competition makes kick-ass cars that are so good, people are buying 'em rather than ours), global warming (aka, Alison Krauss will wear fewer garments and, at least, put slits in her dress to expose her thighs).
Wagoner's ~$5,000/hour compensation (based on his $10 million compensation for 2006: 10 mil divided by 12 (months) then by 20 (working days a month) then by 8 (hours/day) -- it's just a rough estimate).

Between the Lines: Rick Wagoner Takes on the Critics - Jalopnik
Rabid Rick Wagoner, GM's beleaguered CEO, recently responded to increasing calls for his resignation by asking The General's Board of Bystanders for a vote of confidence.
Wagoner singularly fails to understand that his critics fault him for the limited scope, delayed timing and sluggish pace of his changes.
Wagoner's answer indicates that he misheard the question; Hummer may be a success (Wagoner only "thinks" so), but it isn't a turnaround story like Cadillac.

John Tamny on GM and Rick Wagoner on NRO Financial
Rick Wagoner is either lying or blind when it comes to explaining the automaker’s fall.
Contrary to Wagoner’s claim that U.S. automakers gain some kind of advantage when the dollar is falling, GM’s stock reached a 20-year high in 2000 when the dollar was bludgeoning the yen.
Notably, Wagoner said GM is “not looking for a bailout” in the same paragraph in which he said, “It’s critical that government leaders, supported by businesses, unions and all our citizens, forge policy solutions to the issues undercutting American manufacturing competitiveness.” Wagoner doth protest too much.
