		Born in Perivale, Middlesex, England, Rick Wakeman's interest in music manifested itself very early, and from the age of seven on he studied classical piano.
		Wakeman played a key role in the final shape of the group's fourth record, Fragile, creating a fierce, swirling sound on an array of electric and acoustic pianos, synthesizers, and Mellotrons.
		Wakeman's audience and reputation survived the 1980s better than almost any progressive rock star of his era, as he continued releasing albums on his own label.

		Rick Wakeman had been playing in bands since the mid-'60s, but his first encounter with the mighty Mellotron had to wait until 1969, when he was at music college, moonlighting as a session musician.
		According to Wakeman, he was originally asked to double the string section part, but they liked the sound of the Mellotron so much that he was instructed to double-track it throughout the song.

		Although I am a Wakeman fan, I don't automatically like all of his stuff, however,if you've never been to a Rick Wakeman Concert, I recommend that you buy this DVD and see what you've been missing.

		I was under the impression that this show was in the same format as that of the one-man shows that Rick has done throughout the Eastern US in the fall of 2003 ("The Other Side of Rick Wakeman").
		There are lots of favourite Wakeman tracks from King Arthur and Journey to the Centre of the Earth, and a couple of Yes songs which are given a gentle piano treatment and stand up very well.
