We have not been able to obtain the boundaries of Riddrie from any printed page, so we cannot give chapter and verse; but let us walk the boundaries as we believe them to be.
     The first tramway car to run out to Riddrie was on 23rd March, 1903, the terminus then being at Lomax Street, and three years later, on 20th May, 1906, the terminus was moved out to Naver Street.

Now the flagship hall for NB Bingo, the former Riddrie cinema is one of the best preserved 1930s suburban super-cinemas in Scotland.
In January 1950, the Riddrie was sold to the Singleton circuit of cinemas, and renamed the Vogue (the Singletons also owned the McKissack-designed Cosmo - now the GFT - and numerous other cinemas in western Scotland).
The Vogue continued showing films until April 1968, since when it has been a successful bingo hall, most recently cared for and run by NB.

The provision of adequate library facilities in areas remote from the older parts of the city presented a challenge for the library service, made harder by the economic depression of the inter-war years.
The Riddrie housing scheme was built between 1920 and 1927 on open fields to the west of Cumbernauld Road, and Riddrie Library was the first permanent purpose-built branch library to be built in one of Glasgow's outlying estates.

 HENRY MAY VC
Following Henry May's death in July 1941 a headstone was placed over his grave in Riddrie Cemetery, Glasgow, which didn't contain his name, but did commemorated his two children.
The ceremony to unveil the new headstone took place on the 12th September 2006 where members of the May family gathered in Riddrie Cemetery, accompanied by representatives of Henry May's old regiment, the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles), the regimental museum, the Thistle & Poppy Society, and the Royal British Legion.
His funeral took place at Riddrie Park Cemetery, Glasgow, and was the largest seen in the East End for a long time.

The 38 Riddrie is a Newland bus, the photo was given to me at the time that I worked in Newlands Garage in 1968.

A hand crafted ten foot high oak “peace pole” - fashioned by craftsmen at Auldgirth, Dumfrieshire will be handed over at the official opening of the new Smithycroft Secondary School, Smithycroft Road, Riddrie, Glasgow, on Tuesday (October 8).
The school is a non-denomination one whose catchment area covers the East End of the city including Riddrie, Blackhill, Provanmill, Carntyne, Ruchazie, Cranhill, Craigend and Garthamlock and which has been replaced with a brand new building under Glasgow City Council's private /public partnership.
The old one - a unique 'doughnut' shape - was a familiar landmark on the M8 at junction 12 and is currently being demolished.
