		A ridgeling is a horse with at least one undescended testicle.
		The reason ridgelings wind up being announced on the same day they race is that the problem often is not discovered until the horse is examined by the track veterinarian before it makes its first start.
		Hill also pointed out that the announcement of a ridgeling is important in claiming races; a trainer who claimed a horse thinking he would have breeding potential might be pretty disappointed to find out the horse is sterile.

		The daughter of a friend of my mother's was at an auction a week ago and saw a sweet little welsh stallion that she took pity on (meat man seemed out to get him) and bought him with the intention of gelding him and finding him a new home.
		Unfortunately, the vet came out and confirmed that he is, in fact, a ridgeling.
		They're not sure what to do with him now as they don't need a stud.

		Last month, the "Gob'Onary Art Academy" opened its first annual "Bio Art Exhibition" to the public.
