  History of Ridley Township, Pa.
Ridley Township.- This township as at present constituted, extends from Darby to the city of Chester and Nether Providence township, and from Springfield township to the Delaware river, on which it has a frontage extending from the mouth of Darby creek to the mouth of Crum creek.
The former creek Separates the township from its mouth to Prospect Park borough, from Tinicum, the latter creek forming the boundary between Eddystone borough and Ridley township.
He was an ardent patriot, and is said to have been "the first man in Pennsylvania to advocate a rupture with the mother country." He raised a fund to prosecute the war, and as treasurer of the First Troop bore the last subsidies of the French to the Americans at Yorktown.

 Ridley Township Early Schools
The first known mention of a school in Ridley Township was in the August 22, 1778 issue of the Pennsylvania Packet Newspaper.
One is because the children of Ridley Park Heights are compelled to walk to Folsom to receive their education, which is a considerable distance from their homes, and another is that the roads to a from the Folsom public school are without sidewalks.
As the meeting of the board of education of Ridley township held Monday evening in the Leiperville school, a delegation of the citizens of Milmont were present with a petition asking that a school house be r\erected in that place.

As evidence of the tolerance and charitable nature of the early inhabitants of the township, tradition says that several families that were expelled from the ill-fated French Canadian colony of Acadia in 1758 were sheltered in Springfield Township.

Cobb’s Creek (along the eastern line,) Darby Creek, Crum Creek, Ridley Creek, and Chester Creek cross the county from north-west to south-east, flowing in rock-cut channels, or tortuous glens, presenting a lovely variety of picturesque scenery, and affording a considerable amount of valuable mill power.
It consists of separate and parallel outcrops; and at least 27 other local exposures of serpentine in various townships are marked upon the map, all of them in the Chestnut Hill schist area, and apparently belonging to the upper part of that series.

Ridley delivered a quick knockout punch in the first quarter of last night's Keystone Cup state championship lacrosse game against Sewickley Academy.

Born in 1725 in Ridley Township, in what was then Chester County, Morton learned the professions of surveying and farming from his stepfather.
Marrying in his early twenties, he continued to reside in Ridley, where he was active in civic and church affairs, and raised a family of nine children.
First elected to the Pennsylvania Assembly in 1756, he sided with the Penn family proprietorship, and served on that body for eighteen terms, while also serving as a Chester County justice of the peace (1757-64 and 1770-74) and as a local sheriff (1766-69).

The years mentioned, 1948 to 1950 were the "growing pain" years and on March 13, 1950, the first meeting of the Ridley Township Business Association was held at Tony's Cafe.
The organization contributed approximately $4,000 to the Ridley Township Public Library in the beginning when a classroom was used in the Woodlyn Elementary school, and then on to a small room at the Municipal Building.
Today, the members of the The Ridley Township Business Association continue to strive for community improvement and awareness through regular monthly meetings, community social events, banquets and other activities.

Prior to the arrival of Rescue 43 and 43-6A, one victim was extricated by Ridley Park PD. The RIT staged and stood by until being released at 12:15 hours.
Upon arrival on location, Medic Ridley 7 advised that the patient was in very serious condition.
The crew from Rescue 43-6A and Rescue 62 (Vauclain) stopped all extrication activities until the arrival of the M.E. The extrication was completed at 20:20 hours and the company and the crew from Rescue 62 assisted Company 18 with the clean-up.
