Although there were no riflemen present yet, the fear of what riflemen could do had arrived before them, and the British were convinced that their fears of rifle-armed rebels was going to be worse than they had imagined.

Worse still, if the riflemen were taken under fire from an unexpected source, such as a concealed machine gun, they could be stranded in No Man's Land, with no option other than a costly withdrawal.
The riflemen would form a skirmish line, either centred around the light machine gun, or flanking it on one or other side, depending upon the favoured doctrine.

So because every good NE makes huntress, thats why you should have mass riflemen, upgraded from the flsmith and barracks (long rifles).Another that you must have against night elves are casters-mostly sorceress to slow and priests to heal.
Riflemen with casters can own hyppogryph riders when upgraded and healed by priests but against a combination of both huntress and hyppogryphs (usually they make archers and hyppogryphs) you should have footmen or knights, the riflemen also need good protection.

The MR personnel are graded for promotion from riflemen to lance naik and then naik compared to IRB riflemen whose next promotion ought to be directly to the rank of havildar as lance naik or naik post are not created.
Similarly IRB personnel are also feeling the pinch due to lack of clear cut promotion policy from riflemen to higher post as there is every likelihood of the MR personnel revolting when their IRB counterparts are directly promoted to havildar from riflemen.
