After the collapse of the Livonian Order in 1561, Riga Castle served as the residence for a long line of regents and governors general from Poland (1578-1621), Sweden (1621-1710), and Russia (1710-1917) before finally becoming the official residence of the President of the Republic of Latvia in 1938.
Although the official presidential residence is located in Riga Castle, a less formal residence, constructed in the 1970s with the geometric simplicity of the "glass and concrete" style, was adopted in 1993.

For those with interests in the Teutonic Knights, their means and methods of crusading and a good overall history of the Castles of this area, this is an excellent primer, easy to read, very detailed, well illustrated and a good reference tool.
It may be a good starting point to learn about the castles of the Teutonic Knights in Latvia and Estonia, beside the fact of it being one of the few books available on the topic, but it may take a bit more dedication and effort than most introductory books.
Overall, "Crusader Castles of the Teutonic Knights (2)" will provide you with a nice overview of the history of the castles and people who made and fought in them, as well as let you have a good idea of what they looked like with the photos and illustrations.
