The Rigil Kentaurus system (Rigil Kent for short) is usually known as Alpha Centauri.
While it appears to the naked eye as a single -0.3-magnitude star in the constellation of Centaurus, it actually consists of three stellar elements: Alpha Centauri A (G2V, 0.0), Alpha Centauri B (K5V, 1.4), and Proxima Centauri (a M5eV red dwarf, 11.0).
