It lies in the western tier of townships, and is bounded on the north by Blandinsville township, on the east by Emmet, with Tennessee on the south and Hancock county on the west.
The township was constituted in accordance with a vote of the citizens of the county at the general election in 1856, and was christened Rook Creek, as before stated, but at the first meeting of the board of supervisors in the spring of 1857, the name was changed to Hire.
Reece Barnes was born in Highland county, Kentucky, in 1844, and is a son of Elias and Polly (Gilland) Barnes.

 Clinton County, Illinois-County Veteran's Memorial
Clinton County lost another of its young men when Army PFC Ralph A. Wellinghoff of New Baden was killed in action in Vietnam on july 14, 1969.
Clinton County gave another son to the cause of war in Vietnam January 9, 1970, when Marine First Lieutenant Dennis Peek of Route 2, Carlyle, was killed as his U-4 aircraft was shot down by enemy ground fire over Quang Nam Province.
Margaret Toennies of Albers RR became the second Clinton County boy to be killed in Vietnam.

Beginning at the southern most boundary of St. Joseph County, the east-west roads were numbered from 200 to 290 and beginning at the western boundary of the County, the north-south roads were numbered 100 to 196.
The county is approximately 25 miles across from east to west and 20 miles long from the Michigan state line to the Marshall County line on the south.
Stanton Road – Aaron Stanton was County Commissioner in 1831, and in 1830 was the inspector of elections in Michigan Township.

ARCHIBALD MILLER, stock-farmer, Section 25, Township 19, Range 8, P. Cottonwood Falls, was born in County of Antrim, Ireland, September 12, 1833; came to the United States in 1854, located first in Michigan, whence he came to Kansas in October, 1857.
CHARLES McDOWELL, farmer, Section 17, Township 19, Range 8, P. Cottonwood Falls, was born in County Tyrone, Ireland, December 28, 1816, locating first in Belmont County, Ohio, where he remained engaged in farming until he came to Kansas in the spring of 1871.
During the last four years of office he was the presiding officer of the board, and no small part of the present prosperity of the college is due to his clear insight in all matters of financial or practical nature and his earnest and energetic performance of the duties of his trust.

 Macomb County Michigan Early Pioneers
The son of Levi Stump, of Ontario County, N.Y., John H. Stump was born in Armada Township, April 23, 1855; moved to his present farm, known as the Albert Aldrich farm, consisting of 140 acres, in the fall of 1877; was married, August 29, 1877, to Francis A. Arnold, of Armada; the have no children.
Daughter of Isaac Thompson, formerly of Yates County, N.Y., Dorothea was born at that place October 2, 1814; moved with her parents to Macomb County October 1, 1825, and lived in Bruce Township, near Romeo, until February 20, 1840, when she was married to Charles W. Chamberlin, and settled on Section 33, Armada Township.
Daughter of Jesse Bishop, of Bruce Township, was born March 16, 1845; married to Manly Thurston, son of B. Thurston, October 15, 1862; after marriage, resided on the farm of his father one year, then bought the farm on Section 18 known as the Donaldson farm, on which the family still reside.
