In the study of phonology in linguistics, the rime or rhyme of a syllable consists of a nucleus and an optional coda.
The rime is usually the portion of a syllable from the first vowel to the end.
Rimes are particuarly significant in research through the use of rime tables on historical Chinese phonology and the origins of Chinese characters.

Rime table - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rime tables or rhyme tables, as used in Chinese character dictionaries, show characters listed by their onsets, rimes, grades of rime, and tones, but not necessarily in that order.
Rime tables are very important tools in the study of historical Chinese phonology.
In traditional Chinese phonology, there are various interpretations for the grade of rime called Deng 等, with some scholars thinking it has something to do with the properties of the vowel, since within a rime class called She 攝, various distinct rimes called Yun 韻 can be grouped together if they are complementary.

Rime dictionary - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A rhyme (or rime) dictionary (or book), which is called yùnshū (韻書) in Chinese, is a type of Chinese dictionary that was used in ancient times.
Rhyme dictionaries are called thus because they contained rhyme tables (or rime tables), which were tables listing characters by their phonological properties.
In this context, the spelling "rime" is often used instead of the more common "rhyme" in order to make a distinction between the "rime" in the sense of the rhyming portion of a syllable on one hand, and the concept of poetic rhyme on the other.

"rime" as used in linguistics is a different word.
"rime" may also be used as a rap/hiphop alternative spelling of "rhyme", but if so, this is a homonym which warrants its own sense.
The reverse search, for occurrences of rime found it in use as "not the onset" (.us: [25] [26] [27] [28],.se: [29] [30] [31],.de: [32],.uk: [33] [34] [35] [36],.ru: [37],.is: [38]), the archaic spelling of "rhyme" in a quote from Milton ([39] [40]), and actually one occurence of "ice": [41].

 Regressions for Word Acceptability Experiment
Rime comes in either next (Token count) or after its components, Vowel and Coda, are added as negative predictors.
Rimes may be better (Token) or worse than Vowel+Coda, and the same is true of Shells vis-a-vis Onset + Coda.
In particular, the contribution of the Rime is statistically significant in multiple linear regressions that factor in the frequency of the three constructs and their three components, and it always adds at least 9 percentage points in explaining the word-likeness ratings.

In an attempt to keep the peace within the party at the convention itself, it was agreed that a commission would be appointed to establish official guidelines for the selection of delegates to future conventions (Shafer, 1983: 29-40).
A series of regional primaries with wide time intervals between them could minimize campaign expenditures and give defeated candidates recovery rime, but the actual implementation would be complicated by the absence of any formal legal means of enforcement in the US federal system.
Reinstating banned forms of delegate selection, such as the delegate primary (see note 1), could circumvent most of the problems associated with divisive factional competition, as well as the financial difficulties, but would be a hard sell in a political culture that places a high value on direct popular nominations of candidates for all offices.

The Training Guide - RIME Imposing Organisation on a Knowledge Base
RIME's problem spaces serve much the same function that subtasks do for R1; each problem space corresponds to a part of the configuration task that expert configurers have named.
R1 and RIME use essentially the same knowledge to perform their tasks, but because RIME's method makes the roles that knowledge can play explicit, it is easier to talk (and think) about how RIME uses its knowledge and about what knowledge it needs to perform its tasks.
This is in part because RIME’s method integrates explicitly defined knowledge roles and in part because the person adding the knowledge can specify the conditions under which one piece of knowledge should be applied in preference to another.

Reconstruction from rime tables and foreign languages runs into one major criticism: that it does not use the actual data available today, in the form of the spoken Chinese languages.
The rime tables themselves have also been criticized as not being faithful chroniclers of contemporary pronunciation.
Instead, critics argue, the rime tables were designed to help contemporary authors plug by then already anachronistic rimes into pre-existing poem forms, rather than actually recording what the words sounded like.

A series of preliminary tests, using the four fluids previously studied, showed that the Artificial Rime Technique (ART) was more promising than the water spray method, since the results of the latter were mostly far too conservative compared with those of the natural snow test holdover times performed indoors.
These variations occurred at -3°C, when the snow or rime application is more difficult, since the frozen materials tend to stick to the sifter.
An automated system for the artificial rime application over the fluid should improve the uniformity of the frozen deposit, and therefore, reduce the holdover time variations.
