Ring 2 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ring 2 (リング2 Ringu 2) (1999), directed by Hideo Nakata, is the sequel to the Japanese horror film, Ring.
Ring was originally a novel written by Koji Suzuki; its sequel, Rasen (aka Spiral), was also adapted into a movie as the Ringu movie's sequel.
However, due to the poor response to Rasen, Ring 2 was made as a new sequel to Ring, not based on any works by Suzuki, and thus ultimately ignores the story of Rasen.

.2.3 The Ring Rolling Process   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-19)
Ring rolling is a hot forming process that produces seamless rings varying in size from a few inches in diameter, and weighing less than one pound, to over 25 feet in diameter and face heights approaching 10 feet.
For larger rings, the mill may also have radial oriented or "pinch" rolls, illustrated in Figure 5-16, which control the height of the ring.
Ring rolling produces seamless rings with forged properties, which results in optimum mechanical properties, and predictable and efficient machinability.

Ring II is still the same movie as the first one, slow and psychological with a lot of dialog and story to understand.
Luckily unlike Ring I you do have subtitles for this movie, they are clear and visible but the only problem is the usual white on white.
Without seeing Ring I it is pointless to see Ring II as you missed like half of the story.

It took very little time for the arrival of a sequel to the 1998 Japanese smash-hit horror film Ring, whose terror is derived from psychology rather than from effects.

Ring 2 wears the 'I'm the sequel' banner a little too openly, trying to explain too much and bringing in new elements but betraying what made the first one so good.

Here's how it goes in The Ring: Katie Embry (Amber Tamblyn) is in the kitchen, just about to drink, when the television turns on by itself to static.
With a series of extremely fast cuts, we see a snippet of the Ring video on the television set in her bedroom.
Then back to the Ring video in a series of quick cuts, before the entire screen goes to static.

Katie (Amber Tamblyn) is told by her friend about the infamous legend of 'The Ring,' which involves watching a video of lurid imagery, being phoned by a weird voice to be told that you have a week to live, and then dying right on schedule.
Sure, the basic sensation of psychological fright is present, as is the occasional sudden jolt in the soundtrack and on the screen, but there's also a lot of sorrow and drama laced into the substance here, especially as the characters draw closer to their deadline and uncover the tragic secrets behind the legend.
Going into "The Ring," many will probably expect to see something along the lines of "Candyman," where the concept of urban legends is thrust into a gory and violent direction unworthy of its source material.

 Film Review: Ring 2
Ring 2 is an effective, atmospheric, stylish, very well-made chiller that never quite matches the extremely high standards of its predecessor.
The basic premise of Ring - a killer video tape is no urban legend and will kill anyone who sees it within the week unless they can somehow pass the curse onto someone else - was a brilliantly simple one that allowed for an absorbing race-against-time narrative.
However, this is not to say that Ring 2 is a bad film, only that, like most horror sequels, it is fundamentally redundant.

 Movie Review: The Ring 2
Unfortunately, not only is The Ring 2 nowhere near as good as the original but it's not even as good as many other more average horror movies have managed.
The Ring 2 is directed by Hideo Nakata, the man who started The Ring phenomenon with Ringu and Ringu 2 in Japan.
The Ring 2 is rated PG-13 for "violence, terror, disturbing images, thematic elements and some language." There's really not all that much to be scared of in The Ring 2, but there are most assuredly some images involving young children that are eminently unsuitable for those under the age of 12 or so.
