  Revelation - Biography
"Salvations Answer", their first full-length recording, was recorded in June of 1990 and released on Rise Above in early 1991.
Their second full-length recording was released in early 1993 and it also gained them critical acclaim.
The two recorded a promotional demo in February of 1994 entitled "Mourning Son", which continued interest in the band from their fans and record label.

All of the releases up to at least RISE 008 have been deleted, and if they're not in the mail order catalogue then they're no longer available.
As the label is one of the few that concentrates on doom metal bands, and as they have managed to put out some really awesome records through the years, I thought it would be interesting to take a closer look at this label.
It would obviously be nice if the records sold a lot more, but we shall carry on as long as we are physically and financially able to.

This is just another ass-whipping Pro-Pain record for longtime fans to enjoy as well as for anyone who needs to be initiated into their world of perseverance and pain.
The live show, recorded with a single camera and with a clear sound, is the band in top form.
Witchcraft- Firewood (Rise Above) The coolest band to come out of Sweden since Count Raven, Witchcraft evoke the spirit of 1970's vintage classic rock and doom metal and create a sound so pure and emotional that is nothing short of amazing.

 Against Nature: Biography

They have played the Templars of Doom II festival in Indianapolis and the Doom Shall Rise IV festival in Germany, and are scheduled to play the Stoner Hands of Doom VII festival in Mesa, AZ and the Doom to Fall festival in San Antonio, TX in 2006.
Against Nature plans to release at least two more recordings in 2006: Ghosting (due to be recorded in June and released in July) and Leer (due to be recorded in August and released in September).

At least that's the way it seems on the band's self-titled debut album, recently released on Rise Above Records.
Rise Above Records were so amazed by what they heard that they signed the band immediately on the strength of this slab of wax alone and even begged for the song's inclusion, in it's original form, on the band's new debut album.
"Witchcraft" is a record which conjures up the macabre essence of vintage Pentagram and, of course Black Sabbath whilst incorporating influences as wide apart as the Jethro Tull-esque folky prog of 'Her Sisters They Were Weak,' and the bludgen riffing style of early 70's Bang in 'I Want You To Know.'

Recorded in New Rising Studios at the end of last year the influences are vast and wide, from the sheer punk attack of the opening track "Your World Will Hate Us" to the southern fried psychedelic boogie of "Stinkin´ O´ Gin" this is the album of 2002.
Their first two albums, both on Rise Above Records, managed to capture this fun and excitement onto disc.
Recorded at Mark Angelo Studios, London, England in November/December 1999, The Big Black saw Orange Goblin achieve the goals they´d aspired to.

Rise Above was keeping me busy with some killer releases from Grand Magus, Witchcraft and Circulus.
Anderson down to Argentina to record us a new Los Natas record, this one will be kind of a follow up to Corsario Negro [back to the heavy and it sounds like Billy will be getting down there in March of 2006].

Thus we are left with three rock gems from Arclight Records in 2004 for the best of: Hognose "Longhandle," Book of Knots [S/T], and Amplified Heat "In For Sin." Each a masterpiece in their own right and all very different.
In the midst of touring and recording with Cathedral, it was becoming increasingly more difficult to give Rise Above and it's associated bands the attention it undoubtedly needed.
So overall, a very cool year for Rise Above Records and a good indication of where things are going to go from here.

 Witchcraft - Firewood - Ultimate Metal Forum
Firewood is the result of a band holing themselves up in a basement with enough ‘70’s music gear, tie-dye T-shirts, and illicit substances to weather the apocalyptic Y2K disaster.
In an attempt to preserve credibility, the group used ‘70’s-era, recording equipment, and it does indeed boost their believability.
This is another gem from Rise Above Records, and one that’ll be praised for a long time to come.

The doom riffs were creeping in to all the new material and we just had to say ‘fuck it, lets play total doom’.
With Orange Goblin / Hangnail producer Dave Chang behind the desk, they recorded their first and only demo - 3 tracks of apocalyptic doom that, while tipping their hat to Black Sabbath and Sleep do not drown in the sea of pseudo 70’s Stoner rock which dominates the current riff rock market.
The album, ‘The Voice Of God’ which was recorded in July 2000, again produced by Dave Chang at Backstage, consists of 9 hymns of Slow, Low and Superheavy Lysergic Doom.

According to the band’s official website the four-piece was formed by guitarist/vocalist Magnus Pelander, who wanted to record a tribute single to his idols Bobby Liebling (PENTAGRAM) and Roky Erickson (founder member of psychedelic pioneers 13th FLOOR ELEVATORS, with a long and strange history).
It's tough getting the Rise Above imports here in the states because of territory licensing deals and so forth.

It's repetitive, it's slow, but it's a mesmerizing piece of music that pulls you in for a long and I mean LONG journey.
They almost got mainstream fame, but after sending this album to a certain record label, it caused so much trouble the band actually broke up (One member now in High on Fire, the others in Om)!
But thanks to Rise Above and the Music Cartel, it finally got the release it deserved.
