 Kiowa National Grasslands
Scaled quail are found throughout the grasslands, and pheasant hunting is available on the Rita Blanca and Kiowa National Grasslands.
The Kiowa are part of a national grasslands system that also include the Rita Blanca, McClellan Creek and Black Kettle.
These four grasslands are administered for the U.S. Department of Agriculture by the Cibola National Forest and cover 263,954 acres scattered throughout New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma and are part of the Panhandle National Grassland.

 Kiowa National Grassland
Mislabeled as the Rita Blanca National Grassland on their New Mexico map, in fact this is the Kiowa and it's only when you cross the state lines into Oklahoma or Texas that it becomes the Rita Blanca.
By the way, there is a western unit of the Kiowa National Grassland some 75 miles further west, but we didn't make it that far on this journey.
e visited the eastern unit of the Kiowa National Grassland in May of 2003 as part of our great dinosaur footprint journey.

Rita Blanca National Grassland is off U. Highway 385 twenty-five miles north of Dalhart in Dallam County, Texas, and Cimarron County, Oklahoma.
The grassland area is administered by the United States Department of Agriculture-Forest Service under a policy of multiple use for range, watershed, recreation, and wildlife.
Open grasslands, marshes, and woodlands provide habitats for a variety of animal life, ranging from deer and turkeys to the wood duck and barred owl.

Location: The Kiowa National Grassland occupies 136,505 acres in northeastern New Mexico and is directly adjacent to the 93,323-acre Rita Blanca National Grassland in Texas and Oklahoma.
Delano estimates that integrated resource management is in place on half of the public grasslands in his district.
Salt cedar and Russian olive have invaded the watershed of the Canadian River, which marks the western border of the public grasslands.
