Bandon River reports are compiled on a monthly basis by The Kilcoleman Fishery: a private well known fishery approximately 7 miles up river from Bandon town.
The Bandon is a most scenic and prolific game fishing river flowing through some of the most picturesque country side in West Cork.
From Bandon the river follows the main Cork road to the town of Innishannon where it passes under the Cork road.

 History Of Bandon
Newce's land was to the north of the river.
In 1613 and 1619 the First Earl of Cork, Richard Boyle, purchased the former owner's interest in the town of Bandon and by 1625 Boyle was the sole owner of the town on both sides of the river.
As Bandon developed on both sides of the river it had two of every thing such as market houses, churches etc. The north side of Bandon was in Kilbrogan parish and the south side in Ballymodan parish.

Bandon was one of the first communities along the Oregon coast to wrap itself in a blanket of glittering lights at Christmastime.
The Bandon Historical Society was incorporated in 1976, and the museum opened their door in 1977, in the Masonic Hall Building on 2nd Street and we were known as the Bandon Historical Society Museum.
Bandon’s population is 3,067 in the city limits and about 5,500 in what is referred to as the greater Bandon area.

First stop: the Coquille River Lighthouse in Bandon - well actually it's in the Bullards Beach State Park about five miles from Bandon by road, but can be seen just across the river from Bandon, if you know what I mean.
Following improvements to the river channel and the installation of other navigational aids, the lighthouse was de-commissioned in 1939.
We climbed down on the rocks at the side of the river to take the picture you see on the Home Page, then walked along the jetty a little ways, but the wind was so strong we got sandblasted with the sand blowing from the beach.
