The River Tame is a river in the north west of England.
It rises near Saddleworth and joins the River Goyt at Stockport, forming the River Mersey.
The Greater Manchester borough of Tameside is named after it.

This new waterway was to have a junction and basin on the River Trent at West Stockwith.
Just ¼ of a mile north of the river, the Derby Canal also used to cross the Trent and Mersey Canal but when it became obvious to the owners of the Derby Canal that very few boats were using the Upper Trent Navigation, they closed the short section between the river and the canal.
The River Trent continues to gently meander for just over 4 miles in a north easterly direction till it reaches Gunthorpe where there is a lock about 600 yards east of the A6097 which is the first road to cross the river since Nottingham, 24 miles back.

North of the river became Northumbria and to the south Mercia.
Until the 1974 reorganisation towns to the east and south of the Tame came under Cheshire and either Stockport or Mottram in Longdendale Parish and the Macclesfield Hundred.
In 1894 it was greatly extended to include all the Castle Hall area south of the river and parts of the Ridgehill area of Ashton.

The Tame is fed from springs on the Saddleworth moors and flows south through the textile villages of Denshaw, Delph and industrial Stalybridge before converging with the River Goyt in Stockport town centre.
It is followed for 1½ miles straight ahead along the scarp edge of a hill overlooking the Tame Valley to the north.
Cross this and drop down to the river, almost turning back on yourself to cross another stile to reach a footbridge over the River Tame - which seems little more than a stream at this point.

Fastening ducks in at night keeps them safe from foxes and it also means that you get all their eggs, as they lay early in the morning, conveniently before you let them out for the day.

 New River Valley Lost and Found Listings
Chumby likes to lick Fizzy's ears (She is prone to bad infections and was on medication.) They care a lot for each other and most likely aren't separated.
They were last seen around the Newport area on spruce run road (3 miles from the new river) Unfortunately they had no collars because we take them off before letting them run around so they will not get hung up on something by them.
She is very tame and may be drawn to people.
