 Fiddle Heaven, Celtic Colours 2002
The introduction of Tove de Fries was a lesson in Scandinavian linguistics for the crowd, but once they mastered the difficult pronunciation (sort of), the Danish fiddler and her keyboard accompanist, Malene Beck, gave everyone a lesson in a different style of fiddling.
Tove finished her set for the appreciative crowd, then yielded the stage to impish Chicago fiddler Liz Carroll.
Swaying slightly as he played, Kyle exhibited a delicate touch on the fingerboard, sweeping bow strokes and a look of utter peace on his face; the crowd, with the exception of an occasional cough or sniffle -- it was a cold and damp evening, after all -- responded with silence and rapt attention.

 Beautiful Demoiselle
It is recorded on the tributaries of the River Cherwell, Oxford Canal and the River Tove.
The Tove is of interest as it can be seen side-by-side with the Banded Demoiselle despite their differing habitat requirements.
Recent records suggest that the Beautiful Demoiselle is expanding along the Tove, as it has been recorded at Wood Burcote, to the east of Towcester, where the majority of records refer to the west of Towcester.

Half way around the river bend is a lock which links the current navigable river to the narrow-looking, bendy, inner-course, which could well have been the original line of the river around the lake, replaced by the sweeping bend which was itself later replaced by the "New Cut" to the north of the lake.
The river is extremely easy to follow by car from Ely to Denver Sluice as there is always at least one road clinging to one of the banks.

The meadow is surrounded on three sides by the river Nene, and provides a good vantage point to watch river birds, with coots and moorhens using the marginal vegetation for cover.
With the River Ise, the hay meadows and their abundance of different grasses and wild flowers such as meadow saxifrage, harebell, dropwort and lady’s bedstraw, the nature reserve forms a mosaic of habitat types which provide for a wide range of wildlife.
The river Nene runs the length of the reserve, and in the northern section there is a parallel mill race which was re-instated in the early 1990s, and a number of ponds were dug out at the same time.
