Riverside Park is a scenic waterfront public park on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City, consisting of a narrow four-mile strip of land between the Hudson River and the gently curving rise-and-fall of Riverside Drive.
The primary section of Riverside Park are the tiered slopes between the Hudson and Riverside Drive between 72nd St. to 125th St. There is also a northern section of the park from 145th St. to 158th St. and adjacent to Riverbank State Park.
Paths along the river connect the park to Hudson River Park to the south and Fort Washington Park to the north.

Friends of Riverside Park (FORP) is a volunteer organization committed to the upkeep and beautification of the Leone Riverside Park located in the community of Riverside, adjacent to Federal Hill and Locust Point in Baltimore City.
The park is an invaluable asset to the area and is used daily by residents for a variety of activities such as walking dogs, playing sports, or just strolling on the well-paved and lighted paths that criss-cross the park’s open spaces.
Riverside Park is also home to a large public swimming pool, gazebo, basketball court, baseball diamond, soccer/football field and a new fenced-in playground, currently under construction.

By 1907 Riverside Park became one of the South’s loveliest, with ornamental stone bridges and scented camphor trees.

On June 17th, Riverside Park confirmed that 1999 would be the final season of auto racing at the park due to plans to redevelop the speedway area and incorporate it into the main theme park beginning in 2000.

 Riverside Park History
As a privately owned park in the late 1800s, Riverside was known as the "old picnic grounds," and described in newspapers as "a delightful retreat." It was leased by the Alamo Electric Street Railway Company and used as an attraction at the end of the streetcar line.
In 1892, Riverside Park was sold to a local funeral director who wanted to turn it into a cemetery, a plan that failed because of citizen opposition.
In spite of its beauty, Riverside was not able to compete with Brackenridge Park, which opened in 1901, and it was abandoned.
