The two passengers who were catching a train at Robertsbridge Junction, were taken on the trolley, the lady at first refusing to go, but afterwards was persuaded to give way.
It seems to have taken place on 9 January 1929 at a period of extremely cold weather, indeed one of the most severe winters of the 20th century (press cuttings on the same website record snow and frost and in early February a great freeze that disabled a railmotor).
The derailment seems to have occurred very near to Junction Road Halt, possibly at the points for the siding.

Many of the concerns the County Council receives in relation to dangerous road junctions relate to a "perceived" danger and the site may not necessarily be classified as a dangerous junction.
Where a junction or route has been identified as having a high number of killed or serious injury accidents (4 or more over a three year period) the site will automatically form part of a Red Route remedial programme of works and will be subject to targeted enforcement, education and engineering measures.
For a junction to be classified as dangerous there generally has to be evidence to support the claim such as a high number of road accident casualties (as stated above) or excess vehicle speeds for example:- the average speed of all vehicles being above the enforcement limit.

It seems that every time I drive through that section of the road, someone is violating the rules.
Maybe the solution is a video monitoring system that records all activity at the junction, which is then reviewed the next day, and tickets issued.

Local residents protested the fl asphalt resurfacing, but the road badly needed a new smoother surface, the red pavement could not be replaced in its original form (which used bunker oil, now an environmental no-no), and the county rejected alternate red pavements as too costly.
The road was originally built on high ground, then the ground -- along with the rest of the Puna coast -- suddenly sank a few feet in 1975.
This photo was taken near high tide, where the tide was not quite high enough to reach the road, but as you can see it comes pretty close (less than a foot lower than the road surface), and before the red pavement was covered with fl asphalt.

Work has begun on a major £4.9 million scheme designed to improve road safety at the busy Rathfriland Road junction on the A1 at Banbridge.
This is an important milestone in our strategy to improve the A1 route between Sprucefield and the border which also includes plans to upgrade the remaining sections of the road south of Loughbrickland to dual carriageway standard, and the upgrading of the Hillsborough Road junction at Dromore.
The existing Rathfriland Road will then be realigned to cross the A1 with the construction of over 1 kilometre of new carriageway including connector roads.
