	ROADHOUSE – A Band Biography
		Roadhouse are a Classic Rock covers band formed in 1996, who are much in demand all over Hampshire and West Sussex, completing over sixty gigs in 2000 and almost eighty in 2001.
		The band is fronted by the instantly recognisable Terry, a founding member who has earned several nicknames from regular followers for his “distinctive” appearance.

		When we started the band in earnest it was very uncool to be either a song led guitar band, or a blues outfit, and we were both.
		Roadhouse’s anthemic Americana style, roots rock and blues does lend itself to the American FM radio station format, and as Gary explains it was through a combination of music tourism and the internet, that the band found themselves with an unexpected outlet for their music.
		The closing trio of Roadhouse songs, see the band joined on stage one final time by various guests, and the whole evening winds up with the ultimate Roadhouse anthem, “Preacher Man” The lyrics are Gary’s own, but the climactic guitar led outro steals its thunder from Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Freebird”.

		Roadhouse's ability to mix it up sets them apart from many of their contemporaries and 'Broken Land' is an excellent piece of work that although sitting pretty much in the blues genre manages to incorporate a light rock edge and a hint of 'world' music.
		The band have been in the business of the blues for 12 years with occasional changes of personnel in that time and a high percentage of their gigs have been their famous jam evenings.

		David Jones played in blues bands in Northern Califronia in the 60s and 70s, his bands opening up for such acts as Eric Burdon and the Animals.
		Suzanne Jones, the band's lead vocalist started out as a folk and gospel singer but was easily drawn into blues after meeting David.
		Last year she made it to the "Big Apple" (NY) joining the band of an off Broadway musical "Funky Fresh." She's a new resident to Julian and has recently joined her friends, Roadhouse Blues Band as their bass player.

		They supplied the music for the 1983 film "Eddie and the Cruisers" (think Bruce Springsteen exploding in the Sixties) and had a big hit with "On the Dark Side" (which always seemed to me to be obviously based on Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild" if you listen to those opening notes).
		The problem with this group was not that they were identified with a fictional rock band and could not get away from the label, but that the best songs they ever recorded were on that album, making them just another group that had a great debut album and never came close (e.g., Bad Company).
		"Roadhouse" is an okay collection of tracks, just like their 1985 release "Tough All Over," but we had heard special from these guys and wanted to hear that again.
