He is a member of the National Advisory Council on Aging, and recently was elected as a Member of the General Council of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and completed his masters degree in bioethics at the Joint Centre for Bioethics at the University of Toronto.
Roald Hoffmann was born (as Roald Safran) in 1937 in Złoczów, Poland, the great grandson of a rabbi.
Hoffmann has received many of the honors of his profession, including the 1981 Nobel Prize in Chemistry (with Kenichi Fukui).
