WASHINGTON, D.C.--Today, Rep. Rob Andrews (NJ-01) announced that the Department of Homeland Security Office of Domestic Preparedness has awarded the New Jersey Departmentt of Law and Public Safety $37,671,000 as part of the 2003 State Homeland Security Grant Program.
The funding is to be used for first responder preparedness, and to mitigate the costs of enhanced security at critical infrastructure facilities during the hostilities with Iraq and future periods of heightened threat.
Andrews has also joined with Representatives Jim Saxton and Frank LoBiondo to ensure Governor McGreevey allocates South Jersey's fair share of this federal funding.
