Hubbard also makes much use of the SID chip's unusual ability (thanks to its 16-bit resolution) to play notes that lie between the fl and white notes of a normal keyboard (to have the same resolution on a piano, you'd have to build a keyboard over 65,000 notes long).
Thus Rob Hubbard's extraordinary sounds are a combination of two things: his extensive library of clever routines, and the fact that his 'sequencer'has direct control over the astonished SID.
Hubbard now gigs regularly with a dub band using a DX7 (NB - a DX7 is a large lump of metal and plastic that follows you wherever you go, and is on television more often than Terry Wogan), continuing a tradition of playing music that started with childhood music lessons.

The simplest explanation is that Hubbard was not a very good writer, and had rather poor grammar skills, among other things.
It would be most interesting if Hubbard had taken a standardized academic exam such as the SAT -- one wonders how his verbal SAT score would mesh with his claims about the mind of the Clear.
