In the Academic field, Robert BADINTER was sucessfully appointed as Professor of law in the Universities of Dijon, Besançon, Amiens and, in 1974, the prestigious Paris I University (Panthéon - Sorbonne).

A regional seminar promoting the OSCE Court of Settlement and Arbitration was opened in Ljubljana on Monday, 12 February by the Court's President Robert Badinter and Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, who is himself a member of the court.
According to Badinter, the Court was set up not to help countries settle disputes which lead to war, but long-lasting disputes that equally poison bilateral relationships, for instance movement of people, cultural-related issues, as well as economic and environmental issues.
