Topic: Robert Bauval

Robert Bauval - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Robert Bauval was born on 5 March 1948 in Alexandria, Egypt to parents of Belgian origin.
Bauval is specifically known for the Orion Correlation Theory (OCT).
Bauval then made a connection between the layout of the three main stars in Orion's belt and the layout of the three main pyramids in the Giza necropolis.

 Questing Conference 2002 Robert Bauval
For the first time, Robert Bauval will reveal the precise function of a secret and very ancient ceremony of temple alignment known as the 'Stretching of the Chord' which was performed by the pharaoh and the 'goddess' Seshat at night against the starry sky.
For Robert Bauval, Egypt was a model of the sky, and its system of law and order, Ma'at, was dictated by the pulse-like churning of the machinery of the celestial bodies whose 'heart' was the solar disc.
Robert Bauval is a conception engineer with a long-standing interest in Egypt and the Pyramids, having lived in Egypt and the Middle East for much of his life.

 Robert Bauval, October, 1996
Bauval, a construction engineer born in Alexandria, Egypt, was familiar enough with the ancient monuments of his country to know that they were works of precision.
Utilizing SkyGlobe, Bauval demonstrated the Giza pyramids' crucial relationship to the precession of the equinoxes and the stars that were of special spiritual importance to the Egyptians (Sirius, Alpha Draconis, etc.).
Robert Bauval and Graham Hancock present a tour de force of historical and scientific detective work that unravels the millennial code embodied in these Egyptian structures.

Bauval and Hancock mention it only casually and are quick to attribute the discrepancy to Schoch’s, and for that matter any scientist’s, overly cautious nature rather than to the inadequacies of their own theory.
Bauval and Handcock’s conspiracy theory is a whirlwind ride that begins in the early 1970s with then undergraduate student Mark Lehner receiving a grant from the Edgar Cayce Foundation.
Bauval and Hancock allege that it is because of Leo’s association with the first time that the Sphinx is leonine in form.

Atlantis Rising - THE ORION CONNECTION by Len Kasten
When Robert Bauval came to the realization, one starry night in the Arabian desert, that the three pyramids of Giza were arranged on the ground to replicate the arrangement of the three stars in Orion's belt, ancient astronaut theorization was the farthest thing from his mind.
So, according to Bauval, the Sphinx was built to establish the advent of the Age of Leo as a marker in precessional time, and to identify it for future ages as what the Pyramid Texts call the first time.
Bauval first argued that the Pyramid Texts were directing the dead king specifically to a place underneath the Sphinx.

 Mysterious World: Summer 1999
From here, Bauval teamed up with Graham Hancock to collate and resolve all of the extant data on the clues regarding the riddle of the Sphinx in their seminal work, The Message of the Sphinx (1996).
As Hancock and Bauval were soon to discover, this knowledge still exists to this day; for thousands of years, the Sphinx had sat quietly, waiting for someone with the courage and tenacity to solve its riddle.
Through their study of the pyramid texts, Hancock and Bauval were convinced that all of the pharaohs, as a part of their office, underwent an initiation that had the purpose of initiating them into the mysteries of the ancient astronomical religion of the Heliopolitan priesthood, the "Followers of Horus".

Bauval knew that the seemingly inconsistent layout of the three Fourth Dynasty pyramids at Giza was no accident, and had applied his own engineer's mind, and those of many friends to the problem.
Bauval checked the alignment in 2450 BCE by precessing the three Belt Stars back, and found that, due to their close proximity in space, great distance from Earth, and negligible proper motion, they looked exactly the same then as they do today.
Bauval initially made use of the astronomy program Skyglobe 3,5 for the PC.

Supported by Robert Bauval's "Giza-Orion Correlation Theory", one of his prime objectives is to assert that the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx are part of a design hatched in 10,500 BCE.
Dr Robert Schoch, a geologist, contends that the weathering pattern of the Sphinx could only be the result of precipitation and this was only possible if it had been carved ca, 5-7000 BCE when the climate in the Sahara is known to have been much wetter.
Robert Bauval's correlation theory 'locks' the site plan at Giza to 10,500 BCE on the basis of a precise star alignment at this time.

Moreover, as discovered by Robert Bauval in his ground breaking book, The Orion Mystery, there is even more to the sky-ground connection — within the Great Pyramid itself.
Hancock and Bauval explain, "We wonder whether it is possible that the quest of the Horus-King might have had as its ultimate objective the acquisition of knowledge concerning the 'First Time' — perhaps even the acquisition of specific knowledge from that remote epoch when the gods had walked the earth."

Bauval and Gilbert claim that the shafts were pointed directly at important stars in Orion--that is, at those stars as they were placed in ancient times.
The most basic pattern to which Bauval calls attention is the correlation between the three pyramids at Giza with the positions of the three belt stars in the constellation of Orion.
Bauval's hypothesis is reasonable, and though it may be difficult to test, it may provide some insight into the precepts that underlie the construction of these massive monuments.

 World Mysteries - Robert Bauval
If Robert Bauval, coauthor of Message of the Sphinx, is right, we might be on the verge of finding out.
Bauval is both fascinating and wildly funny as he takes jab after well-deserved jab at the Egyptological establishment, which ignores his work and that of coauthor Graham Hancock.
The data Bauval presents seems striking and is rarely marred by the fuzziness of his slides; it could well be that he and Hancock are on to something, but only time will tell.

Although I had heard much of what Robert had to say about the pharaonic Egyptians' obsession with magic and the afterlife, I found myself absorbed by the symbolism attached to the star Sirius present among French Freemasons, who saw both Isis and Napoleon Bonaparte as its divine patrons.
Robert remains the ambassador and shining light of the alternative Egypt field, despite the criticisms that have been levelled against him in recent books and documentaries.
There is no doubt that he had the audience eating out of his hands with his compassionate deliveries, like the one seen at the Questing Conference (which, incidentally, is his fourth since 1995).

SECRET CHAMBER - Robert Bauval | TDG - Science, Magick, Myth and History
Bauval takes a skeptical view of the Cayce readings, preferring to find simple explanations for his alleged abilities (which is commendable, as it would be easy for Bauval to support Cayce as they agree on the 10,500 BCE date).
Bauval also talks about the links of both Lehner and Hawass with the ARE - here he seems to sit on the fence: while saying he doesn't believe the conspiracy theories he is quite willing to mention the connections on numerous occasions.
Bauval's professional writing style presents no difficulties to the reader, and the book is set out quite logically with each chapter leading nicely into the next.

The Official Graham Hancock Website: The BBC Horizon Scandal
The complaint upheld by the BSC specifically concerned Horizon's unfair representation of the Giza-Orion Correlation Theory, a linchpin of the wider theories of Hancock and Bauval regarding the possibility of a forgotten chapter in the history of human civilisation.
Mr Hancock and Mr Bauval complained that they had been treated unjustly or unfairly in the programme's presentation of their theories about the existence of a lost civilisation from which all subsequent civilisations had derived.
However, it found that the programme's omission of Mr Hancock's and Mr Bauval's responses to criticism of one important aspect of their theory, which related to a correlation between the Giza pyramids and the Orion constellation, had been unfair.

BLINKING BACK: EYEBALL TO EYEBALL WITH ED KRUPP   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-10)
Edwin C. Krupp attempts to dispute a claim of Graham Hancock and Robert Bauval: that the Great Sphinx of Giza is meant to represent Leo and that it dates itself and the Giza complex to 10,500 BCE, when the spring equinox was in Leo.
This claim of Hancock and Bauval is unlikely for several reasons, but, oddly, Krupp does not deal with many facts in his attack on their claim.
In response to criticism of his article and to valid evidence cited by Robert Bauval concerning the small creature perched on the Foreleg, Krupp took a disturbing stance by insisting that his own opinion is actual fact.

The premise of Robert Bauval and Graham Hancock's book can be summarised as follows: Ancient Egyptian philosophy and thought has survived in various forms to the present day through Hermiticism, Gnostic Christianity, the Cathars, secret societies and freemasonary.
Hancock and Bauval make a convincing case that a continuum exists between Gnostic thought in early Christian Egypt and the Cathars of 12th / 13th Century Languedoc via sects in Armenia, Turkey and the Balkans.
As Robert Bauval says in the official website of the book, what they do believe is that there is much to support the contention that radical Arab and Judeo-Christian fundamentalists may actually believe is such a conspiracy.
