Robert Houghwout Jackson (February 13, 1892– October 9, 1954) was United States Attorney General (1940 - 1941) and an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court (1941 - 1954).
Jackson died in Washington, D.C. at the age of 62 and was interred in Frewsburg, New York.
One of Jackson's law clerks, William Rehnquist, was appointed to the Court in 1971 and became Chief Justice in 1986.

The papers of Robert Houghwout Jackson, lawyer, solicitor general, attorney general, and associate justice of the Supreme Court, were deposited in the Library of Congress by his children, William E. Jackson and Mary Jackson Craighill, from1983 to 1984 and converted to a gift in 1984.
Jackson's appointment as assistant general counsel at the Bureau of Internal Revenue in 1934 was the beginning of a seven-year career as a law officer with the United States government.
Jackson's papers are complete for his years on the court except for the 1945 term when he was United States Chief of Counsel at the Nuremberg Trials.
