Robert Gee of Brunswick County, Virginia
Robert GEE was born probably between 1700 and 1710 and was an early settler of Saint Andrews Parish, Brunswick County, in the colony of Virginia.
Robert's association with James, together with his estimated date of birth, seem to point rather strongly to the theory that Robert was a brother to Charles2 GEE and the youngest son of Charles1 and Hannah GEE of Surry and Prince George counties.
Robert likely was not living in Saint Andrews Parish at that time and does not appear again in the Brunswick records until he sold his patent to Nathaniel HARRISON in January 1748 [Bwk deeds bk 3, p 537].

 J. Cain: On the Crisis of Self-Definition in English Studies
Distinct in their impassioned pleas either to scrap racist, classist, sexist practices in literary studies or, to the contrary, to preserve the legacy of Western culture in English education, the chief pugilists on either side of the quarrel are unified by the urgency and totality of their polemics.
In defense of "elegant" and "polite" education, John Henry Newman, for example, wrote in a sermon entitled "The Danger of Accomplishments" that "[t]here are those persons who doubt whether what are called 'accomplishments,' whether in literature or in the fine arts, can be consistent with a deep and practical seriousness of mind" (152).

Cain's interests in natural selection, systematics, biogeography, and the history of biology are well documented in his many publications, but he is perhaps best known for his book, Animal species and their evolution (London, 1954), a survey of the nature of species, their origin, and their evolutionary importance.
Much of Cain's research focused on terrestrial gastropods, including snails and slugs, and particularly on the genus Cepaea, a group of land snails that exhibits tremendous variation in shell color and ornamentation, and which is thought to have been subject to strong natural selective pressure.
Cain also made contributions to the systematics of oligochaete "worms" and birds such as fruit pigeons and parrots, and to avian biogeography.
