Robert Holmes (1928-24th May 1986) was script editor of Doctor Who from 1975 to 1977 and the author of many Doctor Who scripts, helping to create or reimagine many key elements of the programme's mythology.
Holmes' role in fundamentally reimagining the nature of the Time Lords and their society (in The Deadly Assassin) and writing out the Fifth Doctor (in The Caves of Androzani) should not be overlooked.
Robert Holmes was also commissioned to write Yellow Fever (and how to cure it) for the original season 23 but this story was never made.

Robert J. Holmes was paroled from Andersonville prison on December 16, 1864 and was furloughed to the home of his parents, in Connecticut, from December 25, 1864 to January 25, 1865 for a period of recovery.
