Robert Inglis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Robert, who succeeded to his father's baronetcy in 1820, was MP for Dundalk 1824-1826, Ripon 1828-1829 and Oxford University 1829-1854.
Inglis was strongly opposed to measures which, in his view, lessened the strength of the Anglican Church.
Inglis alleged that the Jews were an alien people, with no allegiance to England, and that if they were admitted to parliament "within seven years...Parliamentary Reform would be carried." Inglis was joined in his public opposition by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Henry Goulburn, and the Solicitor General and future Lord Chancellor, Edward Burtenshaw Sugden.

Angus Inglis before St Peter's - St Peter's Church, Nottingham, England on-line magazine
Canon Angus Inglis was Rector of St Peter’s from 1948 to 1979, and is still well-remembered by several members of the congregation.
Angus Inglis, however, was not by any means simply a "bricks and mortar" man. He was a devoted pastor to his flock, an intellectually-demanding but utterly devoted Christian teacher, and an advocate of the Anglican tradition of worship which we still enjoy - though not without some changes since 1979.
In discussing Robert Runcie’s interest in pig-keeping, Angus is quoted as remarking "The Berkshire is a very fine fl pig"; and a comment from Runcie when head of Cuddesdon College in 1963, that his brother-in-law Angus would say "I don’t really trust people who are funny, who mock the things they are actually doing".
