Now essentially a solo project of Robert Hampson’s, Main is gradually shifting from overt exploration of textures and resonances emitted from decaying guitar drones and into a technological mixing desk CD-ROM environment from which Hampson blends samples and effects but presumably the bulk of his source material still comes from guitar use and abuse.
Some of these sound sources hail from previous Main recordings so there are often moments of deja vu (or should that be deja ecouté?) but the context in which the sounds emerge is totally different and it's all about the varying juxtapositions that can occur.
