Robert Montgomery, U.S.N.R. Commander (May 21, 1904 – September 27, 1981) was an American actor and director.
His daughter was actress Elizabeth Montgomery, who also died from cancer in 1995 at the age of 62.
Montgomery has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one for movies at 6440 Hollywood Blvd., and one for television at 1631 Vine Street.

In 1932, after completing the construction of his home, Robert Montgomery began developing a palm and cycad collection at his winter residence (named the Coconut Grove Palmetum) in Miami, Florida.
Robert's estate superintendent wrote Robert in Connecticut about the planting of the Macrozamia moorei plant and said that it took three men to carry this plant and he had been told that the plant was at least 1,500 years old.
Robert Montgomery continued developing his cycad collection at the Coconut Grove Palmetum until his death in 1953.
