  Bill Rowling - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rowling (his great-grandfather's name was in fact Rowling (he emigrated from Cornwall, England to New Zealand) but was sometimes referred to, incorrectly, as Rawling or Rawlings, probably due to pronunciation issues).
Rowling was to hold this seat until the election of 1972, when the seat was dissolved — Rowling then contested successfully the new seat of Tasman, which intriguingly he did travelling up and down the electorate by Commer campervan, which he lived in for the time.
Rowling was generally portrayed as weak and ineffectual, and this image was to plague Rowling for the remainder of his career.
