Bruce entered the marine industry and for several years operated a boat yard in Brisbane where he completed an informal boatbuilding apprenticeship.
Bruce has since designed a huge range of sail and powerboats that have been built in fiberglass, steel, aluminum and wood epoxy.
Bruce personally prepares the preliminary plans and supervises his staff of naval architects in Holland, USA, Ireland and Spain; he also finds time to pay regular visits to the various BruceRoberts Yacht Design offices around the world.
Assistant principal horn of the San Francisco Symphony and principal horn of the California Symphony Orchestra since 1988, BruceRoberts spends his summers with the Grand Teton Music Festival Orchestra.
Roberts attended California State University at Northridge and California Institute of the Arts.

Bruce is licensed to practice law in all State Courts as well as the Eastern, Western, and Northern Districts of the United States District Courts.
Bruce has been active, not only in the actual trial of personal injury lawsuits, but also in the academic area by authoring several articles in the area of personal injury law.

Over the past thirty years the BruceRoberts Design team, lead by chief designer Bruce Roberts-Goodson, have produced hundreds of designs and developed numerous building techniques from which over 20,000 boats have been built world wide, including power and sail pleasure boats, commercial and fishing boats.
The BruceRoberts organization is able to develop any existing design into a steel kit or provide modifications to an existing design to be incorporated in a kit.

Bruce now supported and toured with Planxty and also supported Marsha Hunt, Wizzard, The Sweet, David Bowie and ELO founder Jeff Lynne.
Bruce was also a member of the Jess Roden Band who produced 3 albums and 2 singles with Chris Blackwell's Island Records as well as a live EP (IEP 3) at the original Marquee Club (now fetching £15 a copy).
