Roberto Eduardo Viola (Buenos Aires, 13 de octubre 1924 – 30 de septiembre 1994) fue un militar argentino que ejerció de facto la presidencia de la Nación entre el 29 de marzo de 1981 y el 11 de diciembre del mismo año, durante el Proceso de Reorganización Nacional (1976-1983).
Viola reemplazó a Jorge Rafael Videla a causa de tensiones en el seno de la cúpula militar, insatisfecha con la incapacidad de este último para estabilizar la situación económica y la intranquilidad civil.
Viola, partidario de la línea blanda, alejó a los colaboradores inmediatos de Videla e inició una apertura parcial a la reincorporación de políticos de carrera y técnicos civiles a cargos públicos.

Galtieri will be the third military ruler, after Jorge Rafael Videla and Viola, since the 1976 coup that overthrew the government of Isabelita Perón and resulted in a bloody campaign to rid the country of leftist terrorists.
