 History
Farinacci, who had been Mussolini's delegate to the German Command in Italy, had already been tried and shot, Milan radio reported on Saturday.
With these fourteen were also the bodies of Farinacci and Starace, two former general secretaries of the Fascist party, and Teruzzo, formerly Minister of Colonies who had been caught elsewhere and executed by partisans.
Thus, the July 25, 1942 issue of The Tablet of London -- the leading English-language periodical in war-torn Europe -- documented how Roberto Farinacci, Italy's notorious fascist propagandist, was claiming that the Nazi campaign against the Jews was a divine prerogative.

"Outlived." As Farinacci returned to Rome from this supreme triumph, he performed an act which strikingly demonstrates the depths of his loyalty to Mussolini, the heights to which he carries the ideal of loyalty to Fascismo.
It was asserted widely last week that this exchange is designed to mark the end of what has been called the "Fascist phase of terror." The moderate Fascist clique, headed by Minister of Interior Luigi Federozoni, is announced to have won Mussolini over to a slightly less harsh and repressive policy.

 Some Ethio-Italian Historical Notes, II
Another Fascist luminary of this time who joined the Italian Air Force for the invasion of Ethiopia was the Fascist lawyer, Roberto Farinacci, a sometime Secretary of the Party.
There was later some talk of Farinacci forming an alternative Italian Fascist Government on German soil, but, largely due to his lack of charisma (which could not compete with the Duce), this failed to materialise.
Farinacci was shortly afterwards captured by Italian Partisans, who gave him a summary trial, after which he was shot at Vimercate, in April 1944.

It was incompatible with the Catholic religion on which their regimes were based, and, more importantly, racism as a dynamic mass movement represented a threat to their own conservative regimes.
The racism of the Italian Fascist leaders was no more than opportunism, and even the veteran antisemite Roberto Farinacci did not really believe in the racist doctrine he was propagating.
When racism became the official policy of the Italian regime Mussolini coined the slogan "Rather discrimination than persecution." The fact is that while Italian Jewry went through difficult times and suffered many humiliations, the policy of genocide was carried out only under the German occupation.

Grandi, Bocchini and some other top Fascist leaders were frankly afraid of war, aware as they were of Italy's weak financial and military position -- and uneasy, personally, about the ruthlessness of Hitler and the ultimate consequences of the German alliance signed by Ciano.
Rut Miissolini, Ciano, Roberto Farinacci and other top Fascist leaders considered the "desperate British and French proposals" a sign of weakness that should be taken full advantage of -- in the company of an apparently already victorious Nazi Germany.
The "Tyler Kent texts," received by Ciano from Bastianini seemed to confirm that judgment unequivocally, and so war was declared.
