Robin Eubanks (born October 25, 1955 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American jazz slide trombonist.
The brother of guitarist Kevin Eubanks, Robin first appeared on the jazz scene in 1980, playing with Slide Hampton, Sun Ra, and Stevie Wonder.
Robin also played with the jazz drummer Art Blakey in his band the Jazz Messengers.

 Get 2 It: A Review
Eubanks' most recent CD release, "Get 2 It," is unquestionably the best recorded example to date of the acoustic-electronic fusion that he has so successfully pioneered.
Trumpeter (and younger brother) Duane Eubanks shows himself here and throughout the CD to be a mature and thoughtful improvisor, not hell-bent on playing notes for their own sake, apparently a family trait.
Robin Eubanks should be applauded for having discovered an original and personal way of presenting his instrument and his artistic vision, and doing it with the highest degree of integrity and musicianship.

This year, Kevin and Robin Eubanks are Mellon Jazz Festival Honorees, giving the two the opportunity to play together in their hometown for the first time in longer than either can remember.
The Eubanks are probably only halfway through two notable careers, but even a cursory glance at their current resumes is impressive.
Robin currently leads a quintet called Mental Images, and works as a sideman with the Dave Holland Quintet and the Elvin Jones Jazz Machine.

Eubanks: I guess the earliest ones were RandB: James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Sly and the Family Stone, Chicago, Grand Funk Railroad, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix.
The band is Robin Eubanks and Mental Images, and I'm very, very proud of it and happy, as I think it's my best recorded work because I did it myself.
Obviously, J.J. Johnson did not need Robin Eubanks playing solos on his record, but I recognized the gesture and I was extremely humbled by it.

It’s appropriate that Turre and Robin Eubanks dominate the solos on One4J because of the musical partnership that both have shared for two decades, their camaraderie allowing intuitive interaction that trombonists playing for the first time together wouldn’t have.
Another link between Turre and Eubanks is one that all jazz trombonists share in one way or another: the influence of J.J. Johnson, who shocked his friends, acquaintances and enthusiastic and appreciative listeners by taking his own life in February, 2001.
However, Eubanks puts the ensemble to satisfying use on the accents of “Kelo,” the bop accents merging with Victor Lewis’ backbeat, and Earl McIntype does himself proud on his arrangement of “El Camino Real,” which highlights the range of the trombone and the purity of its sound.
