Para el “Outside Tour”, realizado entre septiembre y octubre de 1995, junto a David Bowie, NIN estaba compuesta por Charlie Clouser en teclados y batería, Robin Finck en guitarra y teclados, Danny Lohner en bajo, guitarra y teclados, y Chris Vrenna en batería.

Robin’s stage career began in 1987 when he starated playing guitar for Prowess at the age of 15 in his hometown in Georgia.
Clint Mansell recently completed a score featuring Robin Finck and Danny Lohner for the film Rain, which is scheduled for release towards the end of 2001.
Finck is currently working with the new line-up of Guns N' Roses, and they hope to release new material very soon.

Rumbles of Finck's decision had been going around for just a week, but it couldn't be made official because his two-year contract with GNR wasn't up until Saturday (Aug. 1).
Finck joined Nine Inch Nails in February 1994 for The Downward Spiral tour and quit the band two months after NIN's tour with David Bowie ended in October 1995.
One can only speculate that what may have contributed to Finck's decision is A) The length of time it has taken to record and finish the album, and B) The crazy hours GNR had been working, which at one point were from about 11 or 12 at night until 6 in the morning.

A publicity spokesperson at Interscope Records, GN'R's label, confirmed that the album does not currently appear on the schedule of upcoming releases for 2000, even as a title TBD (with release date "to be determined").
Finck laughs at a comparison to Brian Wilson's legendary Beach Boys album, Smile, and notes the similarities.
Finck has heard little since then from Rose, who is the only remaining member of the Guns N' Roses lineup after buying the rights to the name from former guitarist Slash.
