 | | Robin Pearson, Professor of Economic History, was recently invited to give a talk to the Business Directorate of Yorkshire Forward, the regional development agency, at their away day held at Nostell Priory, near Wakefield, on 28th February 2006. |
 | | Robin also highlighted, however, other factors which helped the cluster drive economic development, notably the importance of business networking between firms, and the emergence of key risk–taking entrepreneurs, such as Benjamin Gott of Leeds, the founder of the world’s first integrated woolen factories. |
 | | Robin, however, has been invited to talk about one of the more vernacular topics in his latest book, "Insuring the Industrial Revolution: Fire Insurance in Great Britain 1700-1850" (Ashgate 2004), which has attracted the attention of the Institutes directors. |
