Roc - Encyclopedia Glossary Meaning Explanation Roc   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-26)
Roc or Rukh (from Persian رخ rokh): a mythical white bird of enormous size and strength such that is reputed to have been able to lift and eat elephants.
The origin of the myth about the roc is unknown, and it is possible that the myth originated from an actual bird, with references to it being known from early as the 8th century from Middle-Eastern authors.
The roc is hardly different from the Middle-Eastern `anqa (see phoenix); it is also identified with the Persian simurgh, the bird which figures in Firdausi's epic as the foster-father of the hero Zal, father of Rustam.

ROC space is appropriate for measuring the success of subgroup discovery, since subgroups whose TPrate/FPrate tradeoff is close to the diagonal can be discarded as insignificant.
The significant subgroups define the points in the ROC space from which a convex hull can be constructed.
All subgroups are combined to yield class distributions for the test instances, and a ROC curve (not necessarily convex) is obtained by ordering the test instances from most likely to be positive to least likely to be positive.

In Croatia, it is very hard for this to be accepted by the old style security and defence officials and officers, who were raised and educated in the old, ideologically overburdened, institutions.
Croatia’s security and defence structures shaped as they are today cannot answer the requirements of the changed security environment.
