 Rochdale Harriers 150 Years of Sport
The demise of the Athletic Club left Rochdale Harriers in prominence, but it was not until after World War II that Harriers started to make a name for themselves on the county and national scene.
Harriers, whose HQ was then at the Bonnie Dundee pub, resumed activities in 1946, and two years later the club sealed a move to a permanent base, Springfield Park, after being allowed temporary facilities at Firgrove.
In March 1962 he became the first Rochdale runner to compete in an England senior team which won an international cross-country title, and in June of that year he was invited by the AAA to compete in a three-mile event in Belfast.

Already there is talk of penalties and disagreements in clubs which I suppose was bound to happen, but I think it’s a matter of wait and see what the RPRA guidelines on this subject are.
The Club was formed in 1893 and with Harold and Syd in charge it will not go wrong, with yours truly deciding that owing to ill health it was time to call it a day.
The North West Classic Club now have a marking station at Failsworth Liberal Club, new members welcome, contact Andy Galley, Secretary, and it is hoped that the BICC will also become a marking station this year, further details to follow.

During the time I was at school I only knew of 3 or 4 boys who passed on to the Rochdale Secondary School, these being the sons of parents able to afford the fees and who did not need the earnings (wages) from their children.
And when the Rochdale Chrysanthemum Society held its annual exhibition at the Rochdale Town Hall in November we were allowed free admission on SATURDAY morning.
If a school in Rochdale had an attendance of 97% for each week of the month, then it was granted a half day holiday on the last Friday of the month.
