  History
In 1830, Wisconsin was a part of the Territory of Michigan.
A large group of English settlers settled east of Rochester near the intersection of present day Racine County highway A and J. The area is still known as “English Settlement” today.
Rochester is known as the home of Chances Restaurant, which occupies the historic Union House hotel.

On Tuesday, August 9th, the Rochester Honkers Baseball Club clinched a berth in the 2005 Northwoods League (NWL) Playoffs with a 3-2 win over the Waterloo Bucks in Rochester, Minn. This is the Honkers first playoff appearance since 2002, despite finishing the 2003 and 2004 seasons with the second-best overall record in the NWL.
Rochester entered the eighth inning with the score knotted at two, but the Honkers exploded and put up nine runs on the board in the inning, eight of them with two outs.
Rochester's offense continued to roll throughout the game as seven different Honkers had at least one hit, resulting with runs scored in the first, third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
